Low Water Pressure in Florida: Causes and Real Fixes

“The water feels weak” is not a diagnosis. One fixture, one bathroom, or the whole house each point to a different layer of the system, fixture, branch line, main, well, or municipal supply.
Start small
- •Unscrew aerators and shower heads and check for mineral crust
- •Note whether hot, cold, or both are weak
- •Ask neighbors on city water if they have the same drop
Whole-house causes we see in Lake County
Galvanized mains closing off, a failing pressure-reducing valve, a waterlogged well tank, a partially closed meter valve, or a leak dumping pressure underground. A gauge at the hose bib tells us a lot before we open walls.
Well-specific pressure
If the pump runs and pressure still sags, look at the tank, switch, and possible leak. If the pump doesn’t keep up, the well or pump may be undersized or worn, that’s a well visit, not a faucet swap.

Filters and softeners in the way
A clogged cartridge or a softener on bypass the wrong direction can choke the house. We check treatment equipment as part of a pressure call, not as an afterthought.
Frequently asked questions
Why is pressure low in only one faucet?
Usually a clogged aerator, failing cartridge, or a kinked supply line. Whole-house low pressure is a different problem.
Can a water softener cause low pressure?
A neglected softener or filter can restrict flow. We check bypass valves and media as part of diagnosis.
